Your surgery day

From the week before to the ride home

This is the plan for the day. The written instructions we give you come first, and we go over them with you before the visit.

  1. 01

    Step 1: A week before

We call to confirm your ride, go over your medicines and send your written instructions. Tell us if your health or your medicines change.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The night before

Stop eating and drinking when your instructions say to. The times depend on the kind of anesthesia you chose, so ours are the ones that count.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The morning of

Take only the medicines we named. Wear a loose top with short sleeves, leave jewelry at home and arrive at the time on your sheet.

  4. 04

    Step 4: At the office

Check in, meet Dr. Nair, ask your last questions and sign the consent form when you're ready. Your driver can wait with us or come back.

  5. 05

    Step 5: The ride home

You leave with written aftercare, what to expect and the number to call. Your driver hears it too.

  6. 06

    Step 6: The next day

We call to see how you're doing, and you call us any time before then if something worries you.

Checklist

Four things to settle before the day

Most of the work of a surgery day happens at home. These four take a phone call or two.

  • Who drives

With sedation, an adult drives you home and stays with you for the first hours. Tell us when you book if that's hard, and we'll talk it through.

  • Fasting

We give you the exact time to stop eating and drinking, in writing, for your kind of visit. Different visits have different rules.

  • Medicines

Bring a list of everything you take, with doses. We tell you which to take that morning and which to skip.

  • What to bring

A photo ID, your dental and medical insurance cards if you have them, and a short-sleeved top that's loose at the arm.

What Dr. Nair does

Four kinds of visits, one surgeon

  • Dental implants

    About implants
  • Wisdom teeth

Removal of wisdom teeth for teenagers and adults, usually in one visit, with the comfort level you choose.

    About wisdom teeth
  • Extractions and bone grafts

Teeth that can't be saved, and the bone around them, with a graft when the plan includes an implant.

    About extractions
  • Sedation

Local anesthetic, oral sedation or IV sedation, each described by level, who gives it and how you are watched.

Before you book

Do I need a referral?

Some patients come from their dentist and some call us first. Either way, we send your dentist a note about your visit.

Can I eat before my visit?

It depends on the anesthesia you chose. We give you the exact times in writing, and you can call if anything is unclear.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure, not pain, once the area is numb, and we stop when you ask. You will be sore afterward. We explain what to expect and what to call us about.

What if the weather closes the road?

Call us. We move your visit to another day and tell you what to do about fasting and medicines in the meantime.

Do you take my insurance?

It depends on your plan. We check your dental and medical benefits before the day and tell you what each says. How fees work explains the rest.

Tell us where you're driving from

Send a request and Mauro will call, text or email you with a time and a plan for the day. Your dentist can send records ahead.
